Metascent's February Exclusive Rose Gallery & Workshop

In honour of St Valentine, MetaScent Collins Street is showcasing a selection of the world’s finest rose perfume ingredients in a scentscape at its flagship store.

Rare and exotic rose materials from Turkey, Bulgaria and France will be available for customers to experience in-store. A native Australian ‘rose’ will also form part of the display.

For centuries, the rose has symbolised love, affection, passion and desire. Rose ingredients have traditionally been used in fine fragrance for sweet, complex notes, favouring oriental and floral style perfumes.

MetaScent CEO Janelle Donnelly stated, “although rose is seen as somewhat old-fashioned, this sensual and delicate ingredient is making a comeback. This is largely led by niche perfumers blending rose with unconventional ingredients such as wood smoke and birch tar,with captivating results”.

Ms Donnelly further stated, “fittingly, rose still works beautifully as the ‘heart’ of a perfume, especially when decorated with earthy notes of patchouli and woody notes of cedar”.

MetaScent is co-founded by Perfumers Hai Yen Huynh and Janelle Donnelly. MetaScent, in the heart of Melbourne’s exclusive fashion and tourist precinct, offers a unique olfactive experience by giving customers the sense of being part of the creative process in designing perfume.

Customers will see one of only a few Australian working perfume studios in action where fragrance formulas are made and new products are being developed on-site. Customers can learn about perfume creation by designing their own scent or attending a workshop.
